About Moncks Corner
Located about 45 minutes from Historic Charleston, SC, Moncks Corner is a small rural town in Berkeley County SC. It is home to the recently built Google Data Center, and will be one of the closest towns to the planned Volvo auto plant that is will begin production in 2017 of the Volvo S60 sedan. Moncks Corner has many neighborhoods that are situated conveniently off of Highway 52, including Cane Bay, Foxbank Plantation, Cypress Grove, and Moss Grove Plantation.
The Town was named for its landowner, Thomas Monck, back in 1728. Mepkin Abbey is a nearby monastery and is a very important part of our town’s history. Just north of town is Lake Marion, a recreation paradise that features miles of trails, boating, fishing and waterski sports.
